Position: Bar Staff

Reports to: Bar Supervisor and Bar Chairperson

Job Summary:

The bar staff is responsible for preparing and serving drinks to customers in a friendly and efficient manner. They are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area, keeping track of inventory, and ensuring that all customers have an enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers as they arrive and take their drink orders.

• Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to the standards.

• Check identification to ensure customers meet the legal drinking age.

• Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area, including washing glassware, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste.

• Periodically clear glasses from tables, wipe tables and clear any debris.

• Maintain minimum stock levels behind the bar and notify the bar supervisor of any low stock levels.

• Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and securely.

• Engage with customers and create a friendly, welcoming experience for customers. Maintain an excellent standard of customer service.

• Monitor customers' alcohol consumption and ensure responsible service.

• Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally. Inform the bar supervisor of any complaints and how these were resolved.

• Assist in setting up and closing down the bar area before and after shifts.

• Inform the bar supervisor or incoming team of any issues that they need to be aware of when they hand over to the next shift.

• Make sure the premises are locked and secure after the bar closes following procedures.

• Comply with all health, safety and hygiene regulations and legal requirements.

Personal Attributes Required:

• Previous experience working behind a bar is preferred but not required.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Being able to work in a team.

• Basic maths skills for handling transactions.

• A reliable person who is a good timekeeper.
