Job Overview:

The Electrical Design Manager will be responsible for leading and managing electrical design projects for commercial, institutional, and public facilities. The role includes overseeing the technical direction of the Electrical Design Team, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code, and managing engineering projects related to Power Distribution, Lighting, Low Voltage (Power Limited), IT (Voice and Data), Access Control, and Fire Alarm Systems.

This position requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience in electrical engineering design for facilities such as airports, public transportation, municipal, and federal education, entertainment, and hospitality projects. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer (PE) license and be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Electrical Design Team, managing workload, schedules, and project priorities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage electrical engineering projects for various commercial and institutional facilities.
  • Prepare project proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Oversee site investigations, inspections, and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Ensure all contract documents and reports meet required standards and compliance regulations.
  • Attend project meetings, present engineering findings, and communicate with clients, designers, and contractors.
  • Assist in preparing project status reports, contract documents, and engineering estimates.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, supporting marketing and business development efforts.
  • Supervise and mentor engineers, designers, and technical staff.
  • Ensure adherence to the National Electrical Code and TIA/EIA industry standards.
  • Perform quality control on electrical engineering deliverables.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience (excluding education).
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, managing engineering teams and projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably registered in Florida (or able to obtain within six months).
  • Strong knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD (Revit preferred).
  • Experience in Power Distribution, Lighting, Low Voltage Systems, and Electrical Safety & Security.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Experience working on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) facility projects.
  • Ability to relocate to Florida (relocation assistance is not provided, but a sign-on bonus may be available).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with SKM and/or ETAP Systems Analysis.
  • Familiarity with MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS SharePoint.
  • Proven track record of accomplishments as a lead design engineer.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment under tight deadlines.
  • Strong business development and client relationship skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based role with occasional site visits.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by client site protocols.
